How To Get Married in Norway

Same sex marriages in Norway have been legal since 2009. It is possible to get married whether you live in Norway or not. You just need to have a valid tourist visa.

In order to get married legally in Norway, you must have a certificate of non-impediment.

We have put together a PDF guide that walks you through the application process, and we provide this to each couple.

This is created from our experience and it includes a case study from a bride who detailed her process step by step.

The application process takes 4 months. Once it is issued, it is valid for 4 months from the issue date.

You need to get your local non-impediment, as if you were getting married locally in your country, then get an apostle copy of it.

And either get an apostle copy of your passports or send your original birth certificates. You send these together with personal declarations and one sponsor form each.
